The Role

Bar One is your home from home with great events like the Big Bar One Quiz, Live Lounge student concerts, Sip and Paint and Yo! Karaoke. We are also the official pre-bar for all of your favourite Students’ Union club nights! Serving a wide range of affordable food and drink with student-focused deals and discounts, Bar One has something for everyone.

We are also a multi-purpose venue where students, clubs and societies can eat, drink, study, socialise, celebrate and relax. Bar One is open from 11:30am - late, Monday to Saturday and our staff working patterns are varied. Typical shifts may look like:

 - Day Shifts: 10am-6pm
 - Evening Shifts: 6pm-1:30am
 - Late Shifts: 10pm-1:30am (All staff are expected to work at least one pre-club night shift a week)
 - We also open later (up to 2am) for special events such as Halloween, UXD* and Summer Social*

Be the face of Bar One! Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm in your role and show commitment to your Students’ Union. Have the ability to engage with fellow students/customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Have a flexible approach to work as well as the ability to effectively manage time and prioritise tasks. Use your initiative and help bring new and creative ideas to how we do things.
Process orders quickly and accurately, and achieve high customer service standards at all times. Develop a strong knowledge of our menu, including food, spirits, wines, and beers so that you can confidently advise customers and make recommendations.
Help maintain a clean and safe space for everyone to enjoy. Take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness by adopting a proactive ‘clean as you go’ philosophy.
