Change Lab Assistant

Flex: Change Lab Assistant

The Role

The Students' Union is looking to recruit 3 student-staff to join Team Change Lab and support the administration and promotion of Sheffield Students Union’s in-house social action programme. We are looking for creative and enthusiastic students to support the Change Lab Project Coordinator in the day-to-day aspects of running the Change Lab programme. You will take the lead on Change Lab communications, including all the Change Lab social media channels. You will help in the planning and delivery of key Change Lab events, as well as support the activity of our Change Lab student groups.

You’ll need to be a confident communicator who is self-motivated, highly organised and able to work with a wide range of people. We are looking for someone who is passionate about social issues and who believes in the Change Lab ethos and in students’ propensity to be agents of change.

The role is approximately 7 hours a week (during term-time). Most of your working time will be between 9am and 5pm Monday - Friday, though there may be requirements to work later in the evening for certain events. There is desk space available in the office, and there will be flexibility to work remotely at times.

Some notes on the role and the application process:

   • We are keen to recruit a Change Lab team with diverse skills and experience - we don’t expect candidates to fulfil every one of the desirable criteria as we can delegate different responsibilities based on individual skills and interests. However, please make sure you address the essential criteria in your supporting statement.

   • When processing applications, we only look at the following: your supporting statement and your answer to why you would like to work for us. Please note that to preserve candidate anonymity we do not view CVs.

  • Each Change Lab assistant role is 7-hours per week, term-time only. These roles are flexible and we can set your hours to work around your university timetable. Most of these hours will be completed during the working week (9am - 5pm Monday to Friday) but there may be some occasions where you are required to work weekends and evenings in order to support key Change Lab events and activities.

   • You will be based in the Student Influence office in the Students’ Union Building - this is on Level 3, opposite from Coffee Revolution. There will also be opportunities to work remotely, based on your work responsibilities.
