Student Groups Support Assistant (Campaigns)

The Role

We are looking for a motivated and clear-thinking individual with great interpersonal skills to assist us in engaging and supporting student campaigners, helping students to be effective change makers on the issues that are important to them.

The core duties of the role are:

  • Provide campaigning support and training to students, including societies and committees.
  • To update and create campaigning resources and guides.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about students’ ability to influence the world around them but will be able to maintain separation of their personal beliefs and affiliations from their work supporting student campaigners.

You will have a keen interest in campaigning and making change, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to consider different audiences. You’ll also be a team player and value working with others to achieve shared aims. This ability to focus on aims will help you in supporting student campaigners to plan carefully and think strategically.

Student Groups Support is a friendly and vibrant department and you’ll work alongside colleagues who are passionate about supporting students in their activities, and about developing opportunities for involvement and development.

This part-time position is available for 7 hours per week until June 2019. Working days and times are flexible and will be negotiated with the successful candidates.

Salary: £8.77 per hour (including £0.94 per hour in lieu of holiday pay)

Hours: Roughly 7 hours per week until June 2019, exact days and times to be agreed with the successful candidate.
