Student Influence Assistant (Advice)

Flex: Student Influence Assistant (Advice Centre)

The Role

The University of Sheffield Students’ Union is seeking a new full time Student Influence Assistant to join our team in our Student Advice Centre. The University of Sheffield has a diverse student body and our advice staff enjoy working with students from a wide range of backgrounds and with different experiences. We aim to provide high quality advice and guidance, alongside representation in the areas of academic, housing, money and welfare, to support our students both in relation to their academic and home lives.

The Student Influence Assistant is one of the first points of contact for students using the Student Advice Centre along with our student reception staff. Through your excellent communication skills you will be able to explore and understand the issues our students face, triaging enquiries, guiding them to understand how to resolve their problems and directing them to appropriate support within the Student Advice Centre. You will provide information, signposting and basic advice to students, referring to your adviser colleagues as appropriate. Your exceptional organisational and administrative skills will provide support to both the Advice Centre manager and the advice team.

As a student led organisation, we are keen to provide self help materials to empower and equip students to work through and resolve any concerns they may face. Where needed, our expert advisers will advise, support and represent students, be this individually or collectively as part of the Students’ Union’s campaigning role. By joining us in the Student Advice Centre, you will be able to make a real impact on the lives of students. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Student Advice Centre and work with us to continue to develop our service for students.
