Student Influence: Voice & Advocacy Manager

The Role

Sheffield Students’ Union is proud to be recognised as the UK’s Number One Students’ Union, and we are entering an exciting period of change as we strengthen how students lead, influence and shape their University experience. We are looking for a Student Voice and Advocacy Manager to play a central role in this work.

This role leads the work that empowers students to influence their courses, their education and their wider University life. You will manage a dedicated team of Coordinators who support Academic Reps, SU Councillors, Officers and Liberation Facilitators to build skills, confidence and shared priorities for change. Working closely with Schools, Faculties and Professional Services, you will develop constructive partnerships that ensure student perspectives are heard, understood and acted upon.

You will shape and deliver our representation systems, democratic spaces and student leadership pathways, ensuring they are inclusive, accessible and genuinely student-led. You will also support colleagues across the organisation to work in ways that centre student leadership, drawing on our community organising approach to build collective ownership and shared action.

We are looking for someone who is collaborative, thoughtful and committed to student-led change. You will bring experience in representation, advocacy or academic partnership working, strong facilitation and relationship-building skills, and confidence in supporting others to develop and grow.

This is a role for someone who enjoys working with people, building connections and enabling others to lead. If you are passionate about supporting students to shape their education and create positive change, we would be delighted to hear from you.
