Want to help students make a real difference to their university experience? Join Sheffield Students’ Union’s Voice & Advocacy team and lead our Academic Representation system.

You’ll recruit, support and develop a thriving community of Academic Reps, deliver engaging training and create opportunities for students to influence decisions across the University. You’ll build strong relationships with University colleagues, use student insight and data to identify priorities, and demonstrate the impact of student representation.

Key Duties Include:

• Lead the delivery, recruitment, and continuous development of the Students' Union Academic Representation system across the University.
• Design and deliver engaging training, induction, and networking opportunities to empower student representatives.
• Build an active and supportive community of Academic Reps to share best practice and collaborate on shared student issues.
• Establish strong working relationships with University staff, faculties, and academic departments to embed student influence in decision-making.
• Support Academic Reps to gather student feedback, campaign for change, and address key issues such as policy development and sustainability.
• Develop an evidence-led approach by collecting and evaluating data to measure, improve, and demonstrate the impact of academic representation.

Use of AI in applications

At the Students’ Union we recognise the potential benefits of AI during the recruitment process, however we encourage candidates to consider how they use AI to support them, should they choose to do so. The recruitment process is designed for both parties to assess whether the role is a good fit. It is therefore important that candidates are providing personalised applications based on their own knowledge, skills and experiences rather than copying and pasting answers generated by AI tools or relying on automated personalisation. AI tools can help to structure your thoughts, improve clarity in responses and may help you to do some generic preparation in terms of things like types of interview questions that you may be asked.
