Outlet Supervisor - Pitt Stop

The Role

Pitt Stop is Sheffield Students’ Union’s newest catering outlet which launched in September 2025. We are serving up freshly filled pittas, gyros, salads and sides. All ingredients are freshly prepared on site daily to ensure good quality and nutritious pittas, gyros and salads every time.

Pitt Stop is located on level 3 of the Students’ Union building and is open 11am until 3pm Monday to Friday during University term time - plus other important University dates such as Summer & Winter Graduation weeks.

We are looking for a self motivated and enthusiastic team player who will work alongside the Chef and flex staff to give great customer service to deliver delicious bespoke made pittas, gyros and salads in an efficient, accurate and friendly manner.

You will be involved in staff training, maintaining standards of production and service, and some food preparation and cooking when required plus any other other tasks which may arise.

Catering experience is essential.

Key Duties Include:

  • Lead, motivate, and direct flex staff on shift, delegating tasks, organising breaks, and ensuring high standards of customer service.
  • Maintain efficient floor operation, manage queues, operate EPoS till systems, and step in to provide cover for the chef when required.
  • Oversee stock replenishment, practice strict stock rotation (FIFO), record wastage accurately, and report inventory issues to store management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and HACCP guidelines, including running temperature checks, managing allergens, and carrying out scheduled cleaning.
  • Maintain a safe environment by completing compliance paperwork, acting as a fire marshal when needed, and promptly resolving or reporting equipment faults and workplace hazards.
