The Role

You will join the team of five Elections Ambassadors within the department of Student Groups Support, managed by the Democracy Coordinator. The primary purpose of your role will be to promote student engagement with, and awareness of, elections, democratic structures and opportunities for making change in the SU. 

The core duties of the role involve:

  • Talking to students about elections, democracy and representation, how the SU works and what opportunities there are to get involved in student leadership
  • Being a positive and friendly ambassador for SU elections and democracy; encouraging students to get involved and make the progressive changes that they want to see
  • Assisting with the publicity and promotion of the SU elections on social media and online by writing news stories and engaging content.

Your Skills and Experience

You will be self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and delivering outstanding customer service. You will have excellent communication skills and will enjoy talking passionately and persuasively about getting involved with the Students'  Union.

Working weeks and hours: These posts are university term time only; September to June. Shifts will vary in length and will be irregular with a clear push around Elections time for SU Council and Officer Elections.  Most shifts will be during working hours with occasional evening or weekend work.

Salary: Under 25 : £8.62 per hour (£7.70 per hour + £0.92 Holiday Entitlement) Over 25: £9.20 per hour (£8.21 per hour + £0.99 Holiday Entitlement)

Interviews: Thursday 12th September 2019

Training:  Thursday 19th September 2019 (Training is compulsory) 

Start date: Monday 23rd September 2019
