Job Advert: Academic Rep Facilitator

The Role

The Academic Rep Facilitator team is at the heart of student influence at Sheffield, putting students at the heart of their Students’ Union. You’ll support over 700 Academic Reps to advocate for a better Education, and use their voice to empower our Officer Team, our staff teams, and student leaders across the University.

As a Facilitator, you’ll be putting our new Students’ Union Strategy into action, giving Academic Reps the tools, resources, and support needed to lead communities of influence across the University. Our Academic Rep system is consistently rated one of the best in the sector, and you’ll help us translate this into meaningful change to how students experience their education.

Our Facilitator team works to the strengths of each member, using your unique background and experience to help us lead change. This role is suitable for anyone who believes in our Union’s values, regardless of your experience in academic representation. It will suit candidates who believe in student-led change and the importance of diverse, inclusive representation. You’ll receive support from your peers, Union staff, and from Officers in your role, and candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Working at the Students’ Union

We exist to represent, support and enhance the lives of our members. We’ve done so since 1906. We are an independent charity and work closely with the University to achieve a world-class student experience. We’ve got a fantastic modern building featuring cafes, two shops, four bars, an advice centre, an activities and sports zone, where students can join over 400 sports clubs and societies. There’s something different happening in the SU every day: from club nights to film screenings, live music, theatrical performances and fascinating talks. We offer a relaxed space for students to take time out. We also have a nursery and offer childcare. We’ve been rated the best Students’ Union in the UK by the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey for ten years running!

We want to support you to do your best during the application process, so please do get in touch at su-people@sheffield.ac.uk  with any questions you may have.
