The role

The Students’ Union has multiple kitchen outlets. These work to provide a wide

variety of foods from Bar One burgers, Interval pizzas, and products for Our Shop.

We are looking for reliable and flexible individuals to help support these operations.

The staff working culture is upbeat, quick and efficient. Workload varies seasonally,

with attention to quality and food safety a priority to ensure that deadlines are met

and products are produced to a high and consistent standard.


Typical kitchen duties such as working with ovens, fryers and hobs, stock rotating,

and cleaning are expected. No experience is necessary, just a positive attitude! All

training will be provided.


Staff will be trained across three of our kitchen areas (Bar One, Interval, CPU) and

eligible for shifts across all of them. This will also include cooking dishes that will be

featuring on our new delivery service menu.


Core working times will be one of Friday or Saturday evening and at least one

weekday morning during term time, shifts would be available at other times but the

core hours must take priority. As part of the staffing rota you will be expected to work

some early mornings, with shifts starting as early as 7am.

Salary: £8.27 for under 25 ( £7.38 basic + £0.89 Holiday entitlement) / £8.77 over 25 (£7.83 basic + £0.94 Holiday entitlement) 

Hours: Friday and Saturday nights as an essential and one weekday morning
